GLOSSARY > DATA GRAVITY
Data Gravity
The phenomenon where massive datasets attract applications, services, and computing power to be located closer to them due to the physics of network latency.
Data Gravity dictates modern enterprise architecture. Moving petabytes of data to cloud-based AI models is often economically and physically impossible due to bandwidth costs and latency. Therefore, the compute (the AI models) must be moved to the data, necessitating robust On-Premises Infrastructure and Private AI deployments inside the enterprise boundary.
