Data Lakehouse

A modern, open data management architecture that combines the flexibility of data lakes with the management of data warehouses.

A Data Lakehouse is an advanced data architecture paradigm that seeks to merge the best aspects of data lakes and data warehouses.

Traditionally, data lakes stored massive amounts of unstructured data cheaply but struggled with query performance, while data warehouses were highly performant but rigid and expensive. The lakehouse architecture implements warehouse-like data structures and management features directly on top of low-cost cloud storage.

This architecture is highly conducive to AI workloads, as it allows data scientists to perform massive-scale machine learning directly on the unified data layer without needing complex ETL pipelines to move the data first.
