GLOSSARY > EDGE COMPUTING

Edge Computing

A distributed computing paradigm that brings computation and data storage closer to the physical location where it is needed, improving response times and saving bandwidth.

In manufacturing and logistics, Edge Computing enables AI to process sensor data and camera feeds directly on the factory floor. By avoiding the latency of cloud round-trips, autonomous systems can make real-time, split-second decisions. This requires highly quantized models optimized for constrained hardware environments.
