Deployment boundaries
Where should the system run?
Start with the boundary, then choose the environment.
The deployment decision reaches beyond the model.
It decides where information can travel, and who will operate the system once it runs.
Locate the information first
Identify the documents, records and operational systems the workflow needs. Establish who owns them and which users may access them. The deployment plan has to account for those boundaries.
Match the environment to the work
On-premises, air-gapped, private-cloud and controlled-hybrid deployments involve different infrastructure and integration decisions. Zynolabs assesses the organization’s constraints before choosing a path.
Four environments
Air-gapped
Nothing connects outward. Plan how approved data and updates will come in.
On-premises
The system runs on hardware you operate, under your own change control.
Private cloud
Your own cloud tenancy, with the identity controls and connections you set.
Controlled hybrid
Parts run in each place. Decide what may pass between them, and who approves it.
Assign the operating responsibility
Include infrastructure, access reviews, support and updates in the design. A deployment choice is incomplete until the people who will maintain it understand their responsibilities.
What you know today is enough to begin.
Bring the map of your data and systems you have now, however rough, to the first architecture discussion.
